ENDA floor vote delayed
The House vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2007, which had been expected to occur today, has been postponed. According to a reported statement by Drew Hammill, press secretary for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), "House Democratic leaders were working to 'develop an accurate count' of the number of House members willing to vote for an amendment that would restore transgender protections to ENDA."
The Rules Committee is still expected to take up the Rule governing debate on ENDA today at 2:00 p.m.
The Republican House Whip, Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO), said in an email update last evening that consideration of ENDA is still possible for Thursday, October 25, 2007. Other reports, including Mr. Hammill's statement, indicate that the vote will likely occur next week.
