Professor Pete: God, Jesus, and G.I. Joe want Congress to Pass the EFCA
Bizzare EFCA article of the day:
After filling in his Congressional readers about the Code of Hammurabi, the Codex of Ur-Nammu, the Codex of Eshnunna, the Codex of Lipit-Ishtar of Isin, the Hittite code of laws, and Mosaic law, Professor Emeritus Peter Bagnolo eventually gets arount to setting out his case for the Employee Free Choice Act in "An Open Letter to Congress on H. R. 800, the Employee Free Choice Act":
Please, display your gratitude to Almighty God, to Jesus for championing justice and to Moses for defining it, by voting for H. R. 800 THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT.
* * *
I thank you and America will thank you, because I, like other good Americans cannot support one who supports the enemies of God, those who wallow in Greed. Remember Avarice is the only EVIL unmitigatible by God, as he and Jesus so often said in words very plain.
Please, for our workingmen and women VOTE FOR H. R. 800 THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT!
I thank you and so will God the Almighty Father, and so will America's working classes, the heart of our nation and potentially, our armed forces.
UPDATE: In fairness, there is strange rhetoric on the other side of the issue too, as illustrated by this bit of odd hyperbole from the blog VOLuntarily Conservative, whose writer also identifies himself as a Christian: "The House Democrats . . . are willing to put the lives of American workers at risk in order to satisfy the socialist labor unions that fill their coffers every election season." The writer may have a point about political payoff in the form of a bad bill, but he doesn't explain how he believes that workers' lives would be put at risk. Perhaps that's a bit over the top.
For the record, although the writers of EFCA Updates believe that the bill would not be sound labor policy, we do not contend that any Supreme Being has strong feelings either way.
