Another EFCA Rallying Cry

Despite the recent attention that Professor Peter Dreier's writings have gotten (see here, here, and here), there apparently is still some concern that many "progressives" outside of the labor movement do not appreciate the importance of the Employee Free Choice Act to enacting the progressive agenda.  An interesting post on the DailyKos charts the decline in union density in each state and observes that the states with the most significant declines in unionization rates “match so closely with the places where Populist Democrats surged in 2006.”   According to the writer, the Democratic party's electoral gains were not beause of voter dissatisfaction with Iraq but because “’red’ state Americans have woken up to the fact that the post war social contract that guaranteed workplace democracy and economic equality in exchange for labor peace has been broken.”   The writer promises to add more on this subject.  It will be an interesting thread to follow.
