Senator Specter Still Opposes EFCA
Senator Specter of Pennsylvania, who provided the Employee Free Choice Act's (the "EFCA") sole Republican vote for cloture when it was introduced in 2007, will join the ranks of Democrats opposed to the bill. Senator Specter announced Tuesday his decision to switch to the Democratic party. Although many view Senator Specter as the potential 60th vote for the Democrats – assuming Al Franken wins the open Minnesota seat – Specter declared Tuesday that he remains opposed to the EFCA, as he announced in March.
