H.R. 2028:  New Employee Verification Act ("NEVA")

Summary

This bill requires that the federal government create a mandatory national employee verification process for immigrants and U.S. citizens.  Employers would use the Electronic Employment Verification System, an internet/telephone-based system which would provide eligibility results.

Current Status:  This bill has been referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, Committee on Education, Committee on Labor, Committee on Rules, and Committee on Ways and Means.
